SINGAPORE RETAIL

Francfranc

The buzz: The Japanese lifestyle and furnishing brand breaks into the Singapore market with two stores, one of which is its biggest flagship in the world.

The vibe: The Francfranc merchandising team has had a ball dressing up this massive 20,000 sq. ft. space, which boasts gigantic dining chairs, color-themed displays of sundries (think chocolate candles) and whole sections for brands such as J-Period, also making its Singapore debut. If it’s your first time stepping into the store, expect to spend at least an hour here—there’s a lot to take in.

The goods: Francfranc offers eight categories of products ranging from glittery dustbins to Philippe Starck wireless speakers. There’s also a selection of the kitschy home solutions Japan is well-known for—silicon steamers, rose-tipped muddlers and heart-shaped chocolate molds. Our favorites, though, are the Kenwood Kmix toasters ($129 each) in a range of eye-popping colors, as well as J-Period’s dinner and sharing plates ($32-652 each) in various nature-inspired designs.

Why you’ll be back: You can’t always shop at Ikea.

Francfranc is closing and dealing out crazy discounts. The VivoCity outlet's last day is expected to be June 1.
