Morsi & Sorsi
Looking for a tasty, fuss-free meal in the CBD? Head to this casual eatery by Gattopardo's chef Lino Sauro. On offer are reasonably-priced creations like beef lasagna and a range of sandwiches, toasted paninis and tapas.
The buzz: Opened by chef Lino Sauro, Morsi & Sorsi is a cheaper and more casual alternative to his fine dining eatery Gattopardo.
The vibe: It’s located within the CBD so expect a crowd of execs for both lunch and dinner. With an alfresco dining area out front, and back-toback seats around the U-shaped bar and along one side of the restaurant, the use of space is smart in this seemingly small outlet. Also, it’s an open-concept kitchen so you can watch chef Lino and his team in action.
The food: Creations like beef lasagna ($13), quinoa with fresh vegetable salad ($12), and toasted panini with parma ham, mozzarella, rucola and tomato ($13) pepper the menu and are pretty reasonably priced. If you prefer, opt for a platter to share (the buffalo mozzarella with parma ham, baby spinach and cherry tomatoes ($23) is a great choice), or order a sandwich to go, like the roasted porchetta with cheese, mustard and grilled capsicum ($11). A small selection of cold and hot tapas (from $5) is also on offer.
The drinks: Italian labels make up most of the drink list here, including beer like Peroni ($8), wine by the glass ($8), spirits (from $6), and cocktails, e.g. Bellini and Rossini ($10).
Why you’ll be back: If you’re pressed for time, it’s the perfect go-to spot for a quick, tasty meal.
