Here are some tours with a twist: World Expeditions are organizing a series of high-end themed trips that will see you traveling alongside experts from different fields—think Lonely Planet writers, TV presenters, mountaineers and more.

If you're into photography, sign up for the "Nanda Devi and the Valley of the Flowers" trip—you'll have the company of Lonely Planet author and photographer Garry Weare as you trek through the Himalayas, passing ancient village trails, rolling meadows and Hindu settlements along the way. Highlights include the fabled Valley of the Flowers and the sacred lake of Hemkund, along with the soaring peak of Nanda Devi (which stands at 7,816m, making it the highest mountain in India). The 17-day trip departs on May 9 2015, and will cost USD3,690 ($4607.52) upwards. View the brief trip itinerary here.

Or, if wildlife is more your thing, register for the "Free the Bears" tour of India, which will be led by wildlife photographer Alex Cearns. You'll get to visit the Agra Bear Sanctuary and the Bannerghatta Bear Rescue Centre, alongside some of India's most notable icons like the Taj Mahal and the "Pink City" of Jaipur. The trip will span 15 days and departs on October 11 this year. Expect to fork out USD3,990 ($4982.13) upwards; click here for a brief itinerary.

Adventurous folk go for the "Api Himal Exploratory" trip to the northwest of Nepal with Tim Macartney-Sbape, who was the first man to scale Mount Everest from sea level. Be warned—this expedition will take 30 days, so sign up only if you have the perseverence and stamina for it. The remote Api-Saipal massif promises peaks rising over 7,000m, alpine ridges, glaciated passes and more, so it's really only for the steel-hearted. The trip expedition departs on May 10 2015; price on application (itinerary here).

As well as the three highlights listed above, the adventure company are also offering plenty of other trips (such as an art trek of India with award-winning adventurer Sorrel Wilby). Visit www.worldexpeditions.com for more info.
