Kuala Lumpur's not just about shopping and food—it's also home to the uber-hip Cooler Lumpur Festival (clever name), the city's annual multi-disciplinary celebration of all things culture. The second edition of the festival is set to take place at Publika, Solaris Dutamas from June 20 to 22.

The festival's curated by the good people at Popdigital, and will see writers, artists, musicians and thinkers from all around the world convening to engage in cultural conversation. The theme for this year's festival is #FAST—focusing on interactivity and the rapid spread of ideas—and there'll be an interesting lineup of masterclasses, workshops, film screenings and panel discussions to get those intellectual and creative juices flowing. These activities will be helmed by international figures like playwright and author Deborah Levy (a Man Booker Prize nominee), British journalist Damien Barr and Burmese blogger and activist Nay Phone Latt, just to name a few. A few of Singapore's own artists and writers will be present at the festival as well, such as Shamini Flint, Kamini Ramachandran and Dr. Gwee Li Sui.

Some of the events will be free of charge, while others will be ticketed; refer to the official website for more details. After you've decided which events suit your fancy, you can book a round-trip ticket for as low as $175 with Tigerair (or ready yourself for a five hour drive up to KL).
