The buzz: Homeware and lifestyle boutique Live It Up! brings a splash of color to Parco Marina Bay. With funky home essential brands like Alessi and Umbra, Live It Up! earns its exclamation mark. This new boutique is by Yeo Teck Seng distributors who also brought Tefal and Zwilling into our kitchens.

The vibe: The open concept boutique is partitioned in two sections: color panels and multicolored products. The color panels come in a rainbow of shades including blue, green and red, which makes it easy to introduce color to your home. As for the products, you’ll find expat families in the parenting section, executives from nearby Suntec City perusing its lifestyle products and the Japanese making a beeline for the latest in kitchenware.

The goods: Choice household and lifestyle essentials: On the household front, stock up on handmade and lead-free Schott Zwiesel crystal wine glasses ($20 upwards). If you have dough to throw, its premium Zwiesel 1872 range ($60 onwards) will look good when raised. Go from delicate glassware to sturdy metals with Staub, a French label that makes designer cast iron pots ($78-548). Fitting right into Live It Up’s concept are the perky items from Bodum’s 2010 collection. The Danish coffee and tea maker’s double-walled series of tea presses ($20-60) is a bit hit, and hip parents will love the Allerhand range of messenger baby bags ($20-300). Available in jazzy and even “double happiness” designs, you’ll be carrying the bags long after your tiny person is all grown up. If you’re a technophile, go for the series of laptop bags ($68.80-75) from Built. The American bags are made of scuba-diving material and will take you on a trip with their psychedelic patterns; a more docile tortoiseshell backpack ($138) is also available.

Why you’ll be back: Live It Up! plans to continue their generous discounts even after the GSS sale period—look out for the National Day season markdown on products under $45. It’s an affordable way to get that Scandinavian look in your life.

#P1-23-25/29 Parco Marina Bay, 9 Raffles Blvd., 6338-3367. Open daily 10:30am-9:30pm.
