One thing that restaurants at VivoCity have going for them is the lovely view of the harbor, and White Dog Café doesn’t disappoint. When we dropped by, we got a much-coveted seat by the window and were treated to a gorgeous view (save for some annoying people that stared at us as they walked past outside). It may call itself a café, but the pretty extensive menu assured us that it is bistro-like, with appetizers, soups, mains, desserts, pizzas, special drinks and more. The white, bright interior with red sofas and busy but helpful wait staff were nice too. However, our seats had crumbs on it and there were food remnants on the floor—not so nice. But they gave us iced water by the bottle, which was good as many eateries in Singapore these days are stingy with water. Our starters of mushroom soup and calamari were alright but nothing to shout about. The linguine carbonara however was excellent—creamy, very al dente and just delicious with fresh prawns. The warm chocolate cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream was good too. While this café won’t make you gasp for joy, it will give you some decent shopping refuel with its variety and reasonable prices.

Our Policy

Reviews are based on actual visits to the establishments listed, without the knowledge of the restaurants. Reviews are included at the discretion of the editors and are not paid for by the individual restaurants. Opinions expressed here are those of I‑S Magazine and our super‑sneaky team of hungry reviewers. Menus, opening hours and prices change and should be checked. New restaurants are not reviewed within one month of their opening.

Reviews are written from a typical diner’s perspective. A dining experience includes more than just food; ratings are also based on service, atmosphere and fun. Ratings are awarded in accordance with the type of restaurant reviewed, so the city’s best wonton noodle stall could earn a “not to be missed” rating while a fancy French restaurant could be a “forget it.”
