Graze at Martin No.38

The buzz: We’ve already told you about Kha at the same location. Well, this is the second Graze outlet (with a slightly tweaked menu) in much more central digs.

The vibe: Thanks to floor-to-ceiling glass windows, it’s a refreshingly bright and airy spot. White chairs serve to complete the understated look, while the strategic placement of some potted plants around the restaurant prevents it from being too bare and (dare we say) clinical.

The food: They’ve been careful to retain quite a few of the classics from the original Rochester venue, including organic tomato gazpacho with deep-fried haloumi ($18) and crispy pork hock served with apple salad and chili caramel ($30). Of course, they’ve taken the liberty of introducing new dishes such as grilled dry-rubbed Wagyu with truffled mash and horseradish aioli ($48), whole rotisserie baby spring chicken with pickled coleslaw and thick-cut chips ($23) and grilled dry-rubbed salmon, accented with citrus butter and mashed potatoes (also $23). Sweeten your meal with blackcurrant and apple crumble ($10) or pavlova with cream, fresh berries and passion fruit sauce (also $10).

Why you’ll be back: Aside from it being in the ever-popular Robertson Quay area, it’s a good option for casual yet delicious food in a relaxed environment.
