    The French Stall set the trend of selling restaurant fare at a coffeeshop

This quaint, unassuming cross between a restaurant and a kopitiam has been serving French food in the surburbs since 2000. The menu is no-frills with a la carte and set meals.

For entrées, we had the mushroom salad and the French onion soup, which unfortunately were a bit of a let-down. The soup was a bit bland, and the salad lacked mushrooms. Our main course, however, lived up to expectations. The executive salmon set was good value for money, with such fresh sweet salmon that we felt that it could have done without the red wine sauce. The grilled beef entrecote with black pepper sauce and tasty stirfried potato wedges was evenly cooked, juicy and tender. The crème caramel was a worthy dessert, but the smooth and creamy honey cheesecake that was part of our set was better.

There's nice French fare here—but just go straight to the main courses.
