This festive season, let's not forget about Hanukkah and all the foodie goodies it brings to us. Here's how to navigate through Singapore's restaurants in search of some Jewish-inspired dishes.

28 Hongkong Street

Sure this place is more well-known for being a cocktail bar, but when it comes to late-night munchies they've got a few tricks up their sleeve. The Reuben sandwich here is pretty satisfying at 2am: oozing with cheese, hot sliced beef, sauerkraut and tangy sauce. Doesn't hurt to have a cocktail while you're at it, too.

Awafi

One of Singapore's only truly Kosher restaurants, this place is supervised by a rabbi. This homey restaurant is found near a synagogue in the Bras Basah area, but expect not only Middle Eastern Jewish food like pitas and dips, but also a variety of local and Western dishes.

Buyan

Russian places are known for having quite a few traditional Jewish items on the menu. This cool Duxton Hill mainstay (probably better known for their vodkas and caviar) has Jewish food like borscht, salted herrings, shashliks and blinis, a pancake-like wrap.

Nassim Hill Bakery

So they don't really serve a lot of Jewish food, per se, but they do have a mean Reuben sandwich made of wholemeal bread, sliced corned beef, emmental cheese, sauerkraut, onions and Russian dressing.

Sacha & Sons

This New York-style deli next to Wild Honey at Mandarin Gallery is inspired by Manhattan's classic Jewish delis. Aside from bagels with toppings like lox and pastrami, it's also got a range of other comfort food like matzah ball soup, potato latkes and blintzes. Plus, the coffee is from local roasters Common Man Coffee, so you know they've got their java game right.

Shashlik Restaurant

This long-established Russian restaurant has a couple of traditional Jewish cuisine options on their menu, namely the borscht. Don't be alarmed by the shocking hue of this soup, it's just made of beetroots, onions and topped with sour cream. They've also got the shashlik, a traditional Russian kebab dish.

Two Men Bagel House

Although this bagel-only place is more inspired by the bagels found down under (through the guys' trips to Australia and New Zealand), they've got some pretty tasty bagels on their menu. Don't miss the classic Lox with cured salmon, cream cheese, red onions, dill, capers and pickled beets that's always a deli staple. If you're more into meat, they've got other great options like Hog with slow-roasted pork cheek and the Rodeo with roast beef and sweet onion relish.
