Seafood boils (literally a big bag of boiled seafood) are popping up on menus around town, here's where to get down and dirty with some crustaceans and shells.

The Boiler

One of the newest additions to the Southern-style seafood boil scene, this place does it Cajun style with lots of spice, butter and garlic. There are bags full of lobsters, prawns, crabs, clams and mussels, so go for the Bombdiggity bag ($139) that serves 3-4 people. It all comes with sides of corn and buns and is meant to be eaten with lots of beer, so why not order a draught Kronenbourg to go with.

The Cajun Kings

This no-frills restaurant specializes in seafood boils and was one of the very first to do so. They offer a New Orleans-style seafood boil where you can pick the seafood you want (price dependent on market value). They've got seasonal market stuff like Maine lobster, Dungeness crab, Scottish bamboo clams, Red Sea prawns and green lip mussels. Just  make sure to check prices first. If you want to know what you're paying for opt for the Cajun Kings Combo ($65) instead, which comes with Red Sea prawns, manila clams, sausages, corn and Cajun fries.

Crab in da Bag

This seafood shack serves up Southern-style crustaceans and bivalves, with options like crabs, lobsters, fish, and clams cooked in either their signature Louisiana garlic butter, Caboodle mix (a secret blend of Southern spices), or even Ultimate Curry - their local take on seafood spice. They've also got items like king crab legs ($35) and mini lobsters ($35) that you can add to the boil. The Caboodle Boil ($299) covers the works, including chicken sausage and potatoes.

Full of Crab

There's no better place to do a seafood boil than over on the East Coast, where seafood is indeed king. Another Cajun-style place, they've got a range of Sri Lankan crabs, king crab legs and prawns served with sides like sweet potato fries. This place doesn't have cutlery, so be prepared to get messy.

The Pelican Seafood Bar & Grill

For something a little more chi chi and with a view, head to this upmarket Marina Bay restaurant. Every Saturday, they do a Pelican Boil ($128) with mussels, crabs, clams, lobsters and prawns. You can also ask for other seafood treats, but it comes at an added price: prawns, mussels and clams go for $18, while a whole crab is $58 and a whole lobster $78.
