FOR THE GIRLS

Girls just wanna have fun, and there’s no shortage of places for them to do so. So gather together your fellow independent women and make the most of it.

Hustle free drinks
With so many sweet deals on offer, it’s time to hang up that LBD and settle for a comfortable night of catching up over drinks. Take advantage of DBL O’s (#01-01/02 222 Queen St., 6735-2008) practice of handing out complimentary premium drinks to all ladies, all night long. On Wednesdays at Attica (#01-03 Blk. 3A Clarke Quay, River Valley Rd., 6333-9973), reach out for free champagne flutes and house-pour drinks. Alternatively, ladies can also hit up Union Square (#05-01, The Amara Shopping Centre, 165 Tanjong Pagar Rd., 6224-6116) on Wednesdays where you can shake it like Shakira while downing free drinks all night long.

Sing it Sista
Kick off your killer heels, slip on those cozy slippers and sing to your heart’s content at K Suites (#02-01 Orchard Parade Hotel, 1 Tanglin Rd., 6354-3113), ($8 per hour with a minimum of $100). Singapore’s first karaoke lounge to adopt a boutique format, K Suites houses different themed rooms and a café selling everything from the French croque-monsieur to the delectable chocolate fudge cake. Each themed room boasts its own unique design (fancy wallpaper with flamingo motifs? We approve.) and a Karaoke-on-Demand system that lets you choose your songs with a simple touch of the screen. While you’re at it, let the in-house manicurist trim and polish your nails back to perfection.

Bare it all
Unhook that bra and pull down those panties for a pampering good time with your girlfriends at Estheva (#03-25 ION Orchard, 2 Orchard Turn, 6509-3900). No liver-damaging alcohol or greasy food clogging up your arteries at this party—just juicy strawberries dipped in warm chocolate fondue and aromatic citrus oil to soothe away all that tension away. An experienced consultant is at hand to offer enticing party suggestions and cater to your every whim ($535 per person, maximum 6 persons).

Pig Out
If you work hard for your money and rely on no man to buy you a drink at the bar, just step into Senso Ristorante and Bar (21 Club Street, 6224-3534) in fabulous groups of four to enjoy a complimentary bottle of prosecco. If a bottle is too modest an amount, visit La Villa Italian Grill and Bar (41 River Valley Rd. 6836-5286) to take advantage of the one-for-one promotion on all cocktails, house pours, beers and prosecco. You will also get to enjoy an additional 20 percent off all wines. But if you’re in the mood for a dinner party by the beach, find your way to Café del Mar (40 Siloso Beach Walk, 6235-1296) where there is a special ladies menu ($24, $30) every Thursday evening from 6-9:30pm. Here you and the gang can tuck into delish grub like Waldorf salads, pastas, hearty mains like escalopes of salmon and steaks and not forgetting the all important dessert.

Enjoy the scenery
There are several reasons why girls just love gay clubs: A) the men here don’t ogle at you; and b) they spend a lot of time working out and like to take off their tops whenever Kylie comes on, making it fun to ogle them. Head down to Taboo (65/67 Neil Rd., 6225-6256), Singapore’s undisputed heart of gay clubbing, for a good dose of eye candy. If you’d rather have a little more attention, visit host bars like Club Giorgio (1/F 217 Lavender St., 6745-9555) and Club Trustz (#B1 Concorde Hotel Shopping Centre, 100 Orchard Rd., 6733-8909) where dashing men from Thailand, China, Taiwan, Korea and Singapore will dazzle you with song-and-dance. After their act, the boys hang around the bar to chat over drinks (Note: you do the buying tonight).

FOR THE BOYS

What’s a guy to do? Ladies have it lucky in this city with drinking deals every night of the week. Which is why we’ve decided to level the playing field with some enticing male-centric options for you and your boys to get even.

Keep it up
If you live and breathe soccer, indulge in a friendly game of nocturnal football. Just make an advanced phone booking and head down to The Cage (38 Jalan Benaan Kapal, 6344-9345), Singapore’s first indoor soccer stadium. Run by We Wanted to be Footballers (WWTBF), this world-class structure was erected with the sole purpose of promoting fun football for the serious recreational player. Come on, we all know you’ve been itching to whip your shirt off in celebration ever since World Cup fever took over ($50 per hour before 6pm, $90 per hour after 6pm).

Drunken sports
Beer and sports—could there be a more intoxicating combination for the average Singaporean man? The people at Players (#02-01 Game Haven, 29 Carpenter St., 6532-5133) highly doubt so. Reputed as the first and only food and beverage outlet offering drinking games in Singapore, Players organizes popular favorites like darts and beer pong (where you throw a ping pong ball into a beer cup at the opposite end of a table). But if you prefer drinking activities that challenge the intellect, make your way to Hyde (57B Boat Quay, 6532-5510) at 8pm on an otherwise lackluster Tuesday night. The bar, which boasts a stunning view of the Singapore River, organizes quiz nights that require you to participate as a team—the winning team gets a free bottle of house pour.

Get a broner
If you’re comfortable with your masculinity and have no qualms about walking around naked save for a towel around your waist, bring yourself and your best buds to All-In-One Men’s Spa (#02-02 Temple St., 6223-8223) where skillful hands will knead those aches away. Here you can choose from three massage packages (relaxing, tired body or sleep wellness, $86 for 60 minutes, $126 for 90 minutes). Even men need some tender loving care from time to time.

Dice, man
Before you spend your hard earned money at the casinos, stock up on booze at Insomnia’s (#01-21/22/23 CHIJMES, 30 Victoria St., 6338-6883) “Guys and Girls” and Le Baroque’s (#B1-07 CHIJMES, Fountain Court, 30 Victoria St., 6339-6696) “Girls and Guys” nights respectively. For once, men can enjoy a freeflow drinks; on Wednesdays at the former and Mondays and Wednesdays at the latter. Just dole out $20 and the bar will be slinging house pour drinks your way from 9-11pm. Now that you’re all nicely fueled up, head on over to either of the two new Integrated Resorts for some Ocean’s Eleven-style action with your mates. If you think the fengshui at Resorts World Sentosa (8 Sentosa Gateway, 6577-8888) ain’t flowing your way, hop over to Marina Bay Sands (10 Bayfront Ave., 6688-8868) to play some familiar games like Chor Tai Tee.

Oogle Central
There are more than 10 nightspots where you and your posse can eye up hot as tom yum dancers. There are plenty to choose from but places like Neverland (#05-20 Orchard Plaza, 150 Orchard Rd., 6738-5855), Influenz (#01-03/16 Eminent Plaza, 195 Lavender St., 6299-5889) and even Lunar (#01-03 Blk. 3C Clarke Quay, River Valley Rd., 6305-6767) are especially alluring. You’ll get singing, dancing and even exotic pole-dancing. You can even strike up a conversation with the performers after the show is over at the first two joints. Note to men: The more drinks you put on your tab, the more “alone” time you’ll get with the girls.
