Born and bred in North London, Paul Gardner and Wayne O'Connell have been sharing their love for good house music for over two decades. “I started deejaying for Wayne's successful club night Dirty; we did a few back-to-back sets and found that we had a real passion for 80s soul and disco,“ recounts Gardner about the day they formed Soul Avengerz. A studio date with label Full Intention later, the duo continue to rip dance floors all over the world with their brand of jacking grooves.
“House music will keep changing, reinventing itself and borrowing from other scenes. But it should always keep its core value—making people lose themselves in the music,“ Gardner says. Soul Avengerz have been busy with their official 10th anniversary approaching; they are frantically trying to put an album together. “Well we already have a very healthy release schedule but releasing the album is proving to be difficult as we have over 80 tracks.“ he says. Those same tracks will find their way through the speakers in Singapore, “We are excited about these tracks coming out and we are looking forward to dropping them at Stereolab.“
Groove to house music all night long with Soul Avengerz on Aug 21, 10:30pm at Pan Pacific Singapore, Marina Square, 7 Raffles Blvd., 6337-0800. $28 before 3am, $14 after.
