What’s better than trance? Trance from Egypt that’s what. The sound may be more commonly associated with Europe and, currently, the US but the duo of Aly Amr Fathallah (Aly) and Fadi Wassef Naguib (Fila) aim to turn that all around with their sonic driven tunes and sweeping atmospheric style.

The best friends have shared a common bond every since they were in kindergarten. “We were friends since childhood, and both shared a love of trance in the mid 90s,” Aly recalls. The DJs have also been inspired by the likes of Paul van Dyk, The Thrillseekers and Chicane. With their recently-launched radio show and recording label, The Future Sounds of Egypt (FSOE), gaining momentum, the pair are going to be busy: “In February this year, it [FSOE] became part of Armada Music, which is amazing as the record label is leading the way forward in the world of trance music,” explains Aly of the label co-founded by Armin van Buuren.

Nominated for Best Breakthrough DJ at the 2009 International Music Awards, Miami Winter Music Conference, Aly & Fila were relatively unknown, but have since been propelled to A-list status in the dance music scene. Currently on their Rising Sun Album Tour, the duo have been touring the world from Egypt to Holland and Singapore. “Plans are to carry on releasing music, touring, helping the label to continue to progress and keep pushing the Aly & Fila brand to new levels,” says Aly.

“Expect a fun packed night filled with exclusive tracks, tracks from the album as well as dance floor fillers that are creating waves at the moment,” boasts Aly of their upcoming set in Singapore. “We love coming to Asia and the crowd is so amazing.”
