The Butter Factory
Beyond its long queues, packed dancefloors and hip music lies a repository of contemporary character art from some of the world’s most recognized artists and designers. The Bump room is dressed in cutesy Japanese-inspired characters designed by Italian designer Simone Legno while the Fash room sees edgier creations from artists such as Rinzen, Jeremyville, eBoy and Jon Burgerman.
#02-02/03/04 One Fullerton, 1 Fullerton Rd., 6333-8243. Open Wed 10pm-3am, Fri-Sat 10pm-4am.
dbl O
Ever since the move to its minty new digs at Queen Street, a hop away from the Waterloo Arts Belt, Singapore Art Museum and National Museum of Singapore, urban dance club dbl O has gone big on art. A purveyor of the urban/street art scene, the club adds a touch of street cred to the otherwise stuffy arts vibe with its graffitied exterior and interior by local street artists and art initiatives like dbl O Art Space, Aerosol Project and White Washed. The club also holds regular art workshops and exhibitions.
#01-01/02, 222 Queen St., 6735-2008. Open Wed-Sat, 10pm-late.
Night & Day Bar & Gallery
Also near the Waterloo Arts Belt is this gem of a bar that’s a fashionable hangout among the creative types. Housed in a restored Art-Deco building that is also home to an architectural practice and art gallery, the bar—with its mish-mash of contemporary designed furniture, street and urban art adorning its walls—regularly hosts art and live performances as well as exhibitions. Get your art on while slurping on some fine martinis (one of our favorites) from the bar.
139A/C Selegie Rd., 6884-5523. Open Mon-Fri 6pm-midnight (bar), noon-midnight (gallery), Fri-Sun 6pm–3am.
