Barfly: Best Rooftop Bars
I-S takes you to the best drinks with the best views.

By Zaki Jufri | published Nov 13, 2008

Breeze
Hidden on top of The Scarlet hotel, this rooftop bar is the perfect remedy to pub-house claustrophobia. Comfy cabanas and day-beds lend a beach-resort vibe, and drink prices are decidedly not astronomical.
The View: A panorama of Chinatown and the Shenton Way area.
The Drinks: Elegant concoctions like the $16 Golden Passion Martini, which artfully blends Absolut Mandarin, peach schnapps and passion fruit juice.

Loof
Fresh air meets potent drinks at the city’s largest rooftop bar. Since it opened in 2005, a steady stream of creative and financial types have flocked here after work for delicious cocktails and the hip, outdoorsy vibe. And there’s no need to worry about the rain here either, as Loof has installed a transparent tarp so you can enjoy your fabulous drinks alfresco no matter what the weather.
The View: A bird’s eye view of the majestic Raffles Hotel across the street.
The Drinks: Loof-cious cocktails like the Krispy Clean Cucumber Martini ($16) and The Loof Life ($16).

Rooftop Pool & Bar
Naumi Hotel, 41 Seah St., 6403-6000
The Hind Group’s elegant rooftop bar features plush patio furniture, an infinity pool and awesome views. Although meant only for hotel guests, determined outsiders have been known to slip unnoticed into the elevator that takes them up to this hellishly cool bar. If you prefer going in the legitimate way, then book a room ($420 for a premium room) and make a whole weekend of it. You’ll be treated like a VIP.
The View: Picture-perfect views of the Raffles City area and the city skyline.
The Drinks: The Crème Brulee, a martini featuring Absolut Vanilla, Frangelico, Triple Sec and whipped cream, will run you a stiff $22. Serious tipplers can also head downstairs to the Naumi Bar and indulge in the whisky buffet for $24-48.

The Terrace Bar
Rooftop, The Screening Room, 12 Ann Siang Rd., 6221-1694
The Terrace Bar atop hip hangout The Screening Room brings new meaning to the phrase “raising the bar.” Ostentatious luxury laced with East-West influences makes it one of the top spots in town, literally. Watch out for its open-air screenings.
The View: Offers a stunning vista of surrounding skyscrapers and panoramic views of Chinatown.
The Drinks: Just the idyllic hangout to sip on vintage whiskies or just chill out with a Hanky Panky ($14), a unique blend of banana liqueur, pineapple juice, Midori and Blue Curacao.
