Tired of staring at ripped bodies at the gym while you struggle with your last set of sit-ups? Sick of fainting during a session in hot yoga? Why not achieve the goals you have for your body while picking up moves fit for a dancing queen?
Burn the most calories at Attitude Dance Studio
Combining aerobics and swift dance movements is a great way to lose weight quickly, and salsa is just the ticket. This Latin-American dance form with Cuban origins is conducted to a much faster tempo compared to other types of dance music. In 1998, artistic director Gupson Pierre set up Attitude Dance Studio to train dancers in the art of salsa. Here, you can attend salsa classes at all levels, or even try out variations of the dance such as exotic dancing, the Ladies’ Shines and Styling class (which focuses primarily on flair), merengue, Brazilian samba and street cha-cha-cha. If you’re a beginner, register for the Salsa Beginners Module 1 class at $80 for five sessions.

Sculpt your body at Bobbi’s Pole Dance Studio
There’s no question that pole dancing is one of the sexiest, most provocative dance forms ever invented. But it also gives you a complete top to toe workout. “The dancing part has awesome cardiovascular benefits. You’ll also enjoy the benefits of weight-training, but that’s only when you start ‘pole-tricking.’ That’s when you balance your body weight on the pole,” explains pole dancing instructor Sasha Riley. What Bobbi’s Pole Dance Studio lacks in space, it makes up for in attitude and reputation. Their most advanced members have also been invited to perform for the Youth Olympic Games. Learn some beginner spins here for $15 per trial class.
