Today, superstar acts from around Asia turned up for a "welcome meeting" or large-scale press conference in lieu of the star-studded 2011 MNET Asian Music Awards (MAMA) that is happening at the Singapore Indoor Stadium tonight.

Among them were nine-member girl group Girls' Generation (also known as SNSD), all-male band Super Junior, the hip hop and pop-inclined 2NE1, Japan's Koda Kumi, China's lauded classical pianist Lang Lang and Hallyu star Kim Hyun Joong. These big names will be joined onstage tonight by international award-winning artistes like the Black Eyed Peas' will.i.am, as well as producer-performers Snoop Dogg and Dr Dre.

This is the first time an integrated event of this magnitude is happening in Singapore, and the six-hour awards show (including a two-hour red carpet event happening right now) has already been trending on networks such as Twitter and Google in the past week.

The 2011 MNET Asian Music Awards will be televised live tonight on Channel U, and broadcasted across 20 countries including Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Korea, Japan, Thailand and Australia. Viewers can look forward to a special performance of the now viral English version of "The Boys" by Girls' Generation, the debut of will.i.am's latest song "T.H.E" performed with fellow band member apl.de.ap, a unique classical collaboration between Beast and Lang Lang for Beast's popular new hit "Fiction", as well as a highly-anticipated performance by Snoop Dogg and Dr Dre.
