Archifest 2014

Singapore’s annual architecture festival returns, this time centering around the theme of "Crowds". Festival highlights include the Archifest Conference, which features prominent figures in the industry like Paul Noritaka Tange and Tan Cheng Siong, and Architours, a half-day weekend tour covering local architectural landmarks.

Velvet Underground 20th Anniversary with George Fitzgerald and Adrian Wee

Velvet Underground celebrates its 20th anniversary in style, with the nightclub transforming into the glitzy Hotel Twenty. There’s going to be an exclusive performance by special guest DJ George FitzGerald from the UK, along with Velvet's ever-reliable resident DJ Adrian Wee. 

VOX: Before The Internet Ate Our Brains 

Having sold out concert tickets at last year's Esplanade studio recital, it’s safe to say that Vox might just be Singapore’s coolest classical band. The pop-rock string quartet brings back the 90s at Zouk, with a wicked mashup of tunes by bands such as Nirvana, the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and even the Spice Girls. 

Gillman Barracks 2nd Anniversary Party

Contemporary arts cluster Gillman Barracks will be hosting an outdoor festival in celebration of its second anniversary. In addition to exhibitions and artist talks across many of the international galleries, you can expect local band performances, art installations, a pop-up market by The Local People and food stalls on site. 

Gitanjali

Directed by Alvin Tan and written by Haresh Sharma, this interdisciplinary production by The Necessary Stage combines Odissi dance with drama and music. Based on the poetry of Rabindranath Tagore, it revolves around three inter-generational relationships and themes of loss. 

FYI! Talk: Shophouses as Shared Forms

This talk by Dr Imran Bin Tajudeen centers on the ubiquitous shophouse, a reminder of Singapore's heritage and multi-ethnic roots. Part of an ongoing URA exhibition titled "The Singapore Shophouse”, the discussion provides insights into Singapore's rich urban history.
