Just when you thought Resorts World Sentosa (RSW) couldn’t get any more exciting, it decides to host circus theater spectacular Voyage de la Vie.

Which is your freakiest act?
Oh—so you want the strange stuff. I don’t know if you would say it’s freaky but one of the most unusual acts is Alexey Goloborodko, a contortionist. He trains endlessly all day long. I asked him, how do you sleep? And he sleeps contorted. He’s more comfortable when he’s contorted. He doesn’t like to lay flat and be still. He likes to be in different positions.

And the most dangerous?
Martii Peltonen’s bow and arrow act. I have been working in circuses for almost two decades and haven’t seen anything like it. He developed it for us. He stands in the middle of a ring of 16 bows and arrows and they shoot fire at him, and then they shoot an apple off his head.

What do you love most about a life in the circus?
I love going to new places and taking world-class circus performers to new places. I’m also the first director to create a circus theater spectacular in Singapore. I love firsts, so this is great for me.

What is it like working with local performer Jonathan Leong, who stars in Voyage de la Vie?
I realized right away that Jonathan was willing to try new things—he does circus arts and works with all the performers. He’s an interesting and talented guy.
