Even if you've never done these things yourself, chances are you've seen people do them.

1. Knocking on taxi drivers' windows in the hopes that this will convince annoyed uncles to take them home at 3am.

2. Making faux heartfelt toasts and clinking glasses every five minutes when with a group of friends.

3. Sitting and drinking cheap alcohol and mixers in a circle by the roadside.

4. Shouting. It doesn't matter whether they're in a club, crossing the road or in a jazz club, they need to be heard.

5. Badly typing out song requests on a smartphone to show to the DJ (who will reluctantly play all 20 seconds of that song snippet).

6. Women who have given up and taken those towering heels off in the middle of the night.

7. Flirtily coaxing the tired bartender to serve "one for the road" even though they've been wiping down tables for the last 15 minutes. Also applicable to happy hour extensions as if there's a five-minute loophole after it's ended.

8. Taking care of drunk friends even though you're drunk yourself.

9. Asking the taxi uncle whether he has plastic bags.

10. Miraculously remembering your NETS pin even though you're plastered.

If all else fails, just head to the nearest prata stall to drown your alcoholic sorrows in curry. We've all been there and done that.
